King_Charles_Brocade
This
pattern has a very interesting but gruesome story behind it.
It was the pattern used to knit the shirt worn by
King Charles I of England when he was executed in 1649. The
shirt
is testimonial to the craftsmen shirt of the knitters of the era, the
vest was originally knitted in blue silk (I haven't used silk
to
knit this
sample) and it is now preserved in the London Museum
Cast on multiples of twelve (12) plus one (1) stitches
